About The Position

The Caregiver is a vital member of the community, providing quality care and services to residents. The role assists residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), such as personal and dental hygiene, transportation to meals and activities, and bodily functions. Caregivers provide hands-on care and support residents’ social and emotional well-being with compassion and strong customer service, following each resident’s Individualized Service Plan (ISP) and prioritizing dignity, privacy, and safety in accordance with policies, procedures, regulations, and guidelines. The position is scheduled PRN and pays $19.00 to $21.00 per hour. On-the-job training is available for candidates with the right attitude and desire. The role is based in a senior living community and involves moving throughout the community and between neighborhoods, assisting with resident transfers, and completing assigned housekeeping and laundry tasks.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
Current First Aid and CPR certifications; maintain them through required training and ongoing education.
Medication Management Certification if required by the state, maintained through required training and ongoing education.
At least 18 years old.
Complete required background clearances and health screening, and provide negative TB test results within 7 days of employment; the TB test must be within the last 6 months.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to read, write, and speak English and follow written and spoken directions.
Ability to interact effectively and tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, and guests from diverse backgrounds.
Ability to make sound independent decisions, remain calm, and manage stressful or emergency situations effectively.
Strong organizational, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
Dependability and respect for confidentiality and the rights and privacy of others.
Ability and willingness to work independently without day-to-day oversight and supervision.
Ability to present a positive and professional image in accordance with MBK values.
Ability to walk, bend, kneel, squat, pull, reach overhead, and perform repetitive motions.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and push up to 250 pounds as necessary.
Ability to move intermittently throughout the workday within the community and between neighborhoods.
Ability to assist with the physical movement of residents during routine transfers and emergencies.
One or more years of prior caregiving experience in a similar work environment is preferred; on-the-job training is available.

Nice To Haves

Food Handler’s Card; training will be provided if required and not already held.
Nurse Aide Certification, unless required by the state.
At least one year of prior caregiving experience in a similar work environment.

Responsibilities

Respond promptly and kindly to resident needs while preserving independence, self-respect, dignity, safety, privacy, and confidentiality.
At the beginning of each shift, read and confirm understanding of shift reports, new or updated resident ISPs, and lifestyle surveys by initialing them.
Complete resident assignments as directed in each ISP during the shift.
Assist residents with ADLs, including bathing, dressing, hygiene, mealtime activities, bowel and bladder functions, and wellness programming.
Conduct regular resident safety checks and report changes in residents’ condition, including mental status, behavior, skin condition, and appetite.
Assist at mealtimes as needed, including meal selection, serving, eating, clearing, and delivering room trays.
Safely assist residents with transfers into and out of beds and wheelchairs using proper techniques, and escort them to meals, wellness programs, and other destinations as needed or requested.
Respond compassionately to residents’ behavioral expressions and follow up as directed and according to policy.
Complete resident program leadership and engagement assignments, encouraging participation and enjoyment.
Complete assigned housekeeping and laundry tasks for residents and the community.
Manage oxygen tanks and concentrators to maintain physician-prescribed levels when properly trained and permitted by state requirements.
Respond promptly to resident alerts, emergencies, and requests to keep residents safe and comfortable.
Maintain a safe and secure environment for staff, residents, and guests, following established standards, policies, and procedures.
Comply with applicable federal, state, and local regulations and company policies and procedures.
Promote teamwork and open communication through mentoring, coaching, and recognition program use, in alignment with MBK principles and core values.
Perform other duties and special projects as assigned or requested by the Supervisor or designee.
