About The Position

Cherished Companions is hiring caregivers to provide in-home care, especially in the Chagrin Falls, Solon, and Twinsburg area. The agency is locally owned and operated and describes its caregivers as employees rather than contract workers. The position offers shifts of 4–12 hours at $16.00 per hour, with an additional $1–$2 per hour for short shifts of 2–3 hours. Full-time and part-time hours are available, along with opportunities to advance. Caregivers provide compassionate, personalized support in clients’ homes, helping with daily activities, companionship, meal preparation, household chores, and errands. The role calls for empathy, respect, active listening, and the ability to bring warmth and humor to challenging situations. The employer hires people with a range of caregiving backgrounds and also welcomes others who have a desire to care for people and are willing to learn.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and a vehicle.
• Must be willing to drive up to 30 minutes to clients’ homes.
• Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
• Must have excellent communication skills and be able to listen actively and respond with empathy and understanding.
• Must understand the unique needs and challenges faced by patients and families at the end of life.
• Must have a desire to care for others and be willing to learn and become a professional caregiver.

Nice To Haves

• Experience or credentials as a State Tested Nursing Aide (STNA), Home Health Aide (HHA), Medical Assistant (MA), or Personal Care Assistant (PCA); nursing students, retired nurses, retirees, and empty-nesters are also invited to apply.

Responsibilities

• Assist clients with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, and grooming, with sensitivity and respect.
• Provide compassionate, personalized care that supports clients’ comfort, dignity, and peace of mind.
• Offer companionship and emotional support to clients and their families, including active listening.
• Prepare meals and assist with household chores and errands.
• Help clients with daily activities and create a reassuring, nurturing presence.
• Bring humor and positivity to client interactions.
