About The Position

The Career and Technical Education (CTE) Teacher is responsible for providing high-quality instruction that prepares students with the technical knowledge, occupational skills, and workplace competencies necessary for success in postsecondary education, industry certifications, and high-demand careers. The CTE Teacher delivers rigorous, standards-based instruction through classroom learning, laboratory experiences, project-based learning, and work-based learning opportunities while fostering critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, collaboration, and professional work habits. The CTE Teacher develops and maintains an engaging learning environment that reflects current industry standards and practices while preparing students for college, career, and workforce success.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in education or a related technical field.

Nice To Haves

  • Valid state teaching certification with appropriate Career and Technical Education endorsement or eligibility for certification.
  • Industry-recognized certifications relevant to the assigned instructional area.
  • Previous teaching, training, or workforce experience in the applicable career field.
  • Experience with work-based learning, career pathway development, or business and industry partnerships.
  • Experience preparing students for industry certifications and credential attainment.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, and deliver engaging instruction aligned with Louisiana’s CTE standards, district curriculum, and industry expectations.
  • Teach technical and career-specific knowledge through classroom instruction, laboratory experiences, demonstrations, and hands-on learning activities.
  • Integrate academic content, employability skills, digital literacy, and workplace readiness into daily instruction.
  • Prepare students for industry-recognized certifications, technical assessments, and postsecondary opportunities.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and effective classroom and/or laboratory environment that complies with all safety regulations and district policies.
  • Utilize a variety of instructional strategies, technology, and assessment methods to address diverse learning needs.
  • Assess student performance using formative and summative assessments and provide timely feedback to promote student growth.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including students with disabilities and English learners.
  • Establish and maintain positive classroom management practices that promote student engagement and accountability.
  • Collaborate with school counselors, administrators, academic teachers, and special education staff to support student achievement.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, certifications, inventories, and required program documentation.
  • Participate in professional development activities to remain current with instructional practices, educational technology, and industry trends.
  • Communicate regularly with parents, guardians, business partners, and stakeholders regarding student progress and program activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or regional administration.
