About The Position

The Career Technical Education (CTE) Teacher will plan, prepare, implement, monitor and evaluate quality, competency-based CTE (Career and Education) coursework aligned within the Agriculture pathway. The CTE Teacher will develop student technical knowledge and employability skills aligned with environmental and agriculture sector standards to prepare students for entry-level employment, industry certification, and/or post-secondary education. Instruction integrates environmental science, sustainable agriculture, and hands-on laboratory and field-based learning experiences. The CTE Teacher will lead and develop student skills sufficient to qualify them for entry-level employment and/or post-secondary education by utilizing effective instructional strategies and best practices in Career and Technical Education.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of subject matter/course content and resources relevant to assignment.
  • Knowledge of and skills in using effective instructional strategies and practices.
  • Skills in managing and promoting positive student behavior.
  • Skills in data analysis to assess, monitor, and inform instruction for student growth.
  • Skills in organization, time management, and record keeping.
  • Ability to operate a computer.
  • Ability to utilize variety of computer applications including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite programs, Canvas, Aeries, Student Information Systems
  • Possess the skills needed to learn and utilize software and other technology in CTE instruction.
  • Ability to effectively address and meet a wide range of academic, social/emotional and developmental needs for all types of learners.
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with other professionals in a team setting.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Knowledge and consistent practice of the ethical guidelines as outlined by EPIC, federal, state and local laws, rules and regulations.
  • Ability to assist with developing the program.
  • Ability to contribute expertise in the development and implementation of policies, procedures and standards in the area of expertise.
  • Ability to effectively express ideas orally and in writing.
  • Must hold a valid and current CTE Credential in this Specific Subject or ability to obtain Credential
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in agriculture or related field
  • Strong knowledge of agriculture production methods, agricultural business management, and sustainable agriculture practices (including Agricultural Lab development and management)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other teachers and staff
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents, reports, rosters, etc.
  • Must have tuberculosis (TB) clearance or obtain TB clearance before beginning work.
  • Must be able to pass fingerprinting (Live Scan) and criminal record clearance by the Department of Justice (DOJ).

Nice To Haves

  • Possession of an AA or Bachelor’s Degree (BA/BS)
  • Previous experience working in a CTE class setting
  • Bilingual in Spanish

Responsibilities

  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Plan and deliver engaging and effective lessons in agriculture, including but not limited to crop and animal production, agricultural business management, and sustainable agriculture practices
  • Demonstrate the knowledge of Agriculture
  • Demonstrate the ability to utilize effective instructional techniques in a Career and Technical Education environment.
  • Ability to teach in-person/synchronous as well as virtually/asynchronous.
  • Exhibit collaborative and collegial practices focused on improving instructional strategies, curriculum design, and student learning outcomes (SLOs)
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive curriculum that meets the needs of diverse learners
  • Provide individualized instruction and support to students with varying levels of experience and ability
  • Create and maintain a safe and organized learning environment that meets health and safety standards
  • Prepare materials and supplies for classroom and hands-on agriculture activities
  • Utilize a variety of teaching strategies and techniques to engage students and foster learning
  • Provide feedback and assessment to students on their progress and performance
  • Collaborate with other teachers and staff to create a cohesive and supportive learning community
  • Attend professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and stay current with industry trends
  • Participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLC)
  • Participate in meetings, training, and professional development
  • Understand and comply with FIELD policies and procedures
  • Consistently and efficiently create and/or complete FIELD documents; submit Grades and Educational records in a clear and timely fashion
