About The Position

This is a 90% FTE position for a Registered Nurse Care Team Leader in the Inpatient Pediatric ICU at American Family Children’s Hospital in Madison, WI. The role involves providing family-centered care to critically ill or injured children and their families in a state-of-the art 21-bed unit. Responsibilities include providing comprehensive care for patients with a wide variety of medical and surgical problems, including acute head injuries, critical neurological disorders, pulmonary diseases, cardiac anomalies, organ transplantation, multi-system organ failure, and ECMO. The role also involves providing high-quality care for complex cardiac conditions, motivating and leading nursing staff, collaborating with the interprofessional team, analyzing and resolving problems, and mentoring other staff.

Requirements

  • 2 years experience in an inpatient unit Required
  • 2 years of combined work experience and leadership experience may be considered in lieu of two (2) years’ experience in an inpatient unit Required
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of WI or holds a license issued by a jurisdiction that has adopted the nurse licensure compact Required
  • Current CPR/BLS certification Required
  • Pediatric ICU (PICU)- PALS within 180 Days Required

Nice To Haves

  • Baccalaureate degree in nursing Preferred
  • 3 years experience in an acute care inpatient unit Preferred
  • Relevant RN experience with department-specific patient population Preferred
  • National certification in relevant specialty Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide family-centered care to critically ill or injured children and their families in a state-of-the art 21-bed unit.
  • Provide comprehensive care for patients admitted with a wide variety of both medical and surgical problems.
  • Provide high quality care to complex cardiac conditions.
  • Motivate and lead nursing staff while working in collaboration with the interprofessional team.
  • Analyze and resolve problems that fall outside the domain of the nurse clinician and collaborate with other departments and care providers.
  • Mentor others to grow professionally and advance their knowledge and skills.
