About The Position

The Care Coordinator Auth Scheduling Specialist completes patient referrals and coordinates with referring and receiving practices and departments. The position obtains required authorizations, directs patients to providers covered by their insurance plans, reviews benefits, and explains insurance coverage. It also coordinates and schedules surgical procedures, diagnostic testing, and other services with internal and ancillary providers; reviews schedules for accuracy and proper time allocation; and follows up on referrals to help ensure patients do not experience gaps in care. The role may also coordinate and prepare financial estimates for patients.

This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position scheduled Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., for 40 hours per week. The listed pay range is $20.80–$31.20.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Computer experience.
• Customer service experience.

Nice To Haves

• Thorough understanding of insurance coverage, including FSC, coverage, and plan types, and medical necessity policies.
• Knowledge of medical records software.

Responsibilities

• Complete referrals for patients and coordinate with referring and receiving practices and/or departments.
• Coordinate and prepare financial estimates for patients when needed.
• Obtain all required authorizations.
• Direct patients to providers within their insurance plan.
• Review benefits and educate patients about insurance coverage.
• Coordinate and schedule surgical procedures, diagnostic testing, and other services with internal and ancillary providers.
• Review schedules and confirm they are accurate and time is properly allocated.
• Follow up on referrals to ensure there are no care gaps.
