About The Position

The Care Aide provides basic patient care activities delegated and supervised by an RN. The role supports patients with personal care and activities of daily living, monitors and documents patient information, reports changes in patient condition, and helps maintain clean, stocked, and orderly patient and unit areas. This position is PRN and works night blocks only, from 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., on the Medical-Surgical/Telemetry unit, which specializes in cardiac and stroke care.

Requirements

• Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLS-HCP) certification.
• A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
• One year of related experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic patient care activities delegated and supervised by an RN, including monitoring vital signs, possibly measuring blood glucose, and recording intake and output.
• Assist patients with personal care and activities of daily living, including bathing, grooming, eating, and ambulation.
• Report abnormal findings or changes in patients’ physical, mental, and emotional conditions to nursing staff.
• Help keep patient rooms and common areas stocked, clean, and orderly.
• Maintain patient records, charts, and other documentation in a legible, accurate, and appropriate format.
• Perform general support tasks, including stocking supplies, maintaining the unit environment, and clerical tasks.
