About The Position

The Care Aide provides basic patient care on a fast-paced Medical-Surgical/Telemetry unit specializing in cardiac and stroke care. Care is provided as delegated and supervised by an RN. The role also supports unit operations through documentation, stocking, maintaining the unit environment, and clerical tasks. The schedule is three 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., with self-scheduling opportunities and cross-training in the Telemetry Technician role.

Requirements

• Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLS-HCP) certification.
• A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
• One year of related experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic patient care activities as delegated and supervised by an RN, including monitoring vital signs, possibly measuring blood glucose, and recording intake and output.
• Assist patients with personal care and activities of daily living, including bathing, grooming, eating, and ambulation.
• Report abnormal findings or changes in patients’ physical, mental, and emotional conditions to nursing staff.
• Help keep patient rooms and common areas stocked, clean, and orderly.
• Maintain patient records, charts, and other documentation in a legible, accurate, and appropriate format.
• Perform general support tasks, including stocking supplies, maintaining the unit environment, and completing clerical tasks.
