About The Position

Requirements

Current nursing license valid in the state of assignment
Associate degree or certificate in Surgical Technology
Minimum two years of recent related experience; cardiovascular/heart experience required
CPR or BLS certification from an approved vendor (preferred)

Nice To Haves

Certification: National Board of Surgical Technologists (NBSTSA) or Association of Surgical Technologists (AST) preferred

Responsibilities

Facilitates physician performance during invasive, therapeutic, and diagnostic cardiovascular procedures; maintains sterile field and passes instruments to the surgeon as needed.
Anticipates surgeon’s needs for additional supplies and maintains appropriate counts with the circulator prior to incision and before closure.
Prepares sterile table, instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions; assists with patient draping and positioning; supports room turnover.
Verifies the procedure to be performed with consent forms and escorts the patient to the operating room, ensuring correct patient and procedure.
Preps and cleans instruments for terminal sterilization; assists with cleaning of the room and preparation for the next patient.
