About The Position

This position involves working in a Cardiovascular Operating Room setting. The unit has 2 Operating Rooms, 20 Pre-Op Bays, and 14 PACU Bays. The role focuses on various cardiothoracic surgeries, including Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG), Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR), valve replacements, and thoracic cases such as lobectomies and hernia repairs. Other procedures include generator exchanges and lead extractions, femoral-popliteal bypass and open vascular cases, Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) and carotid surgeries. The technologist may also be required to float to the Main Operating Room. The patient ratio is one surgical technologist per operating room (1:1 ratio). The team composition includes RN/First Assist/Surgical Technologist, a "2 Tech" Model where both techs are involved in each case, Nurse Clinician, Clinical Resource Nurse (CRN), Service Line Lead, Health Unit Coordinator (HUC), Scheduler, and Preference Card Analyst. Charting is done in EPIC and Omnicell. CST orientation is comprised of five 8-hour days.

Requirements

• 2 years of CVOR experience.
• Level 1 or Level 2 trauma experience.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Graduation from an accredited surgical technology program.
• Associate Degree in a Healthcare-related field or surgical technology certification.
• Strong background in CVOR.
• Ability to work independently in various procedures, including CABG, TAVR, Valve replacements, Robotic thoracic cases, Generator exchanges, Lead extractions, Cardiac organ procurement/harvesting, Fem-pop bypass.
• Proficiency in EPIC charting system.

Nice To Haves

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification.

Responsibilities

• Work in a Cardiovascular Operating Room setting.
• Perform duties related to cardiothoracic surgeries, including CABG, TAVR, valve replacements, thoracic cases, generator exchanges, lead extractions, femoral-popliteal bypass, open vascular cases, AAA, and carotid surgeries.
• Float to the Main Operating Room as needed.
• Circulate only, with no scrubbing duties.
• Collaborate with RN/First Assist/Surgical Technologist in a "2 Tech" Model.
• Utilize EPIC for charting.
• Complete a five-day CST orientation.
