About The Position

This full-time position in the Cardiac Cath Lab at Carolinas Medical Center requires a Cardiovascular & Electrophysiology Specialist III. The role involves performing and assisting with treatments, therapies, and procedures under physician direction, including scrub assistant, monitoring, and circulating. The specialist will administer medication, document patient information, and communicate relevant clinical data to physicians and teammates. Responsibilities also include calculating, interpreting, and analyzing data, and assisting in the development of policies and standards of care. Participation in committee and governance activities is highly recommended.

Requirements

  • Satisfactory completion of high school and an accredited program of Cardiovascular/Cardiopulmonary technology, The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, or related field required.
  • If not licensed or certified (Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist or Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist, allied health professional will have up to 12 months to successfully obtain.
  • Invasive Cardiovascular Specialist/Electrophysiology Specialist training or experience preferred.
  • Graduate of an accredited Allied Health Technology program, such as Radiologic Technology, Respiratory Therapy, or comparable.
  • Graduate of Cardiovascular Interventional Program or minimum of two years of experience as a Cardiovascular Specialist.
  • Fluency in reading, writing and speaking English.
  • Intact sense of sight, hearing, smell, touch, manual dexterity, good eye hand coordination.

Nice To Haves

  • Procedural or Operating Room experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates evidence-based practice and performs care for the comfort and wellbeing of the patient.
  • Performs and/or assists with treatments, therapies, and procedures (including scrub assistant, monitoring and circulating) under the direction of the physician.
  • Administers medication under the direct supervision of the physician, as appropriate
  • Documents a current clinical picture and records designated information in the patient record.
  • Conveys relevant information to physicians and teammates.
  • Calculates, interprets and analyzes data.
  • Assists in development of policies, procedures and standards of care reflective of current practice/literature.
  • Highly Recommended to participate in committee and governance activities.
