Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Physician’s Assistant Program or Nurse Practitioner Program required.
  • Three years of professional nursing or Physician Assistant experience in a clinical setting.
  • strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, as well as excellent team building and problem-solving skills, and a strong ability to take initiative and drive improvements
  • DEA Registration
  • Current and ongoing license as a Professional Nurse AND Nurse Practitioner by the State of New York.
  • Must have current and ongoing National Board Certification (FNP-BC, AANP, NCCPA)
  • Current BLS required at hire or transfer until ACLS obtained. BLS renewal not required once ACLS is obtained
  • Standing and walking most of the shift; moving patients and equipment. Mobility required.
  • Visual acuity required for typing, reading, filing, and using the computer
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Ability to foster collaborative relationships, to work well under pressure, to organize and synthesize new information, and prioritize tasks.
  • Possesses critical thinking, analytical skills and flexibility.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Required detailed attention to work in an environment where interruptions cannot be controlled.
  • Demonstrates sensitivity to customer needs and expectations.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous cardiac experience preferred.
  • ACLS preferred upon hire or must be obtained within first 90 days of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Provides comprehensive cardiovascular care to patients undergoing diagnostic and interventional cardiac cath and electrophysiology procedures.
  • Utilizes a variety of skills to educate, consult, and manage the cardiac cath and/or electrophysiology patient population and assist the patient/family, the patient care team, and physicians.
  • Promotes high-quality, evidence-based care while supporting operational efficiency, patient throughput, and clinical outcomes within the Cardiac Cath Lab and associated inpatient/outpatient setting.
  • Works collaboratively with the health care team, including interventional cardiologists, electrophysiologists, anesthesiologists, and other physicians involved in the patient’s care, nurses, case management, and with departments affecting the care of the cardiac cath/electrophysiology patient.
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, as well as excellent team building and problem-solving skills, and a strong ability to take initiative and drive improvement.
