About The Position

This is a full-time position in the Cardiac Cath Lab at Carolinas Medical Center. The role involves providing evidence-based care for patient comfort and well-being, assisting physicians with treatments, therapies, and procedures (including scrub assistant, monitoring, and circulating), administering medication under physician supervision, documenting patient information, and communicating relevant information to physicians and teammates. The position also involves calculating, interpreting, and analyzing data, and assisting in the development of policies, procedures, and standards of care. Participation in committee and governance activities is highly recommended.

Requirements

• Satisfactory completion of high school and an accredited program of Cardiovascular/Cardiopulmonary technology, The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, or related field required.
• If not licensed or certified (Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist or Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist, allied health professional will have up to 12 months to successfully obtain.
• Graduate of an accredited Allied Health Technology program, such as Radiologic Technology, Respiratory Therapy, or comparable.
• Graduate of Cardiovascular Interventional Program or minimum of two years of experience as a Cardiovascular Specialist.
• Fluency in reading, writing and speaking English.
• Intact sense of sight, hearing, smell, touch, manual dexterity, good eye hand coordination.
• Must be able to respond quickly to changes in patient and/or unit conditions.

Nice To Haves

• Invasive Cardiovascular Specialist/Electrophysiology Specialist training or experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates evidence-based practice and performs care for the comfort and wellbeing of the patient.

• Administers medication under the direct supervision of the physician, as appropriate.
• Documents a current clinical picture and records designated information in the patient record.
• Conveys relevant information to physicians and teammates.
• Calculates, interprets and analyzes data.
• Assists in development of policies, procedures and standards of care reflective of current practice/literature.
• Highly Recommended to participate in committee and governance activities.
