About The Position

For more than 50 years, physicians from Intermountain Health and National Jewish Health have worked together to create a heart and vascular program known for exceptional quality, superior outcomes, and innovative cardiovascular (CV) treatments. Today, this unique clinical partnership has resulted in the formation of a top-tier Heart and Vascular program serving the needs of patients throughout the Rocky Mountain West. As a Cardiothoracic Surgeon, you’ll work with 2 other surgeons and 4 Advanced Practitioners to provide top-notch care and patient experience. Practice at Saint Joseph Hospital in downtown Denver, CO. Saint Joseph Hospital has earned 3-out-of-3 stars from the Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) for patient care and outcomes in coronary artery bypass graft surgery (CABG), and aortic valve replacement (AVR), and is well known for mitral valve replacement/repair (MVRR). Take Q3 call only at one hospital (APPs also take Q4 floor/ ICU/ practice/OR call). Large, matured CT practice with collaborative relationships and referral patterns. Full ICU support with excellent group of Intensivists on site 24/7. A busy Structural Heart Program with the highest volume of Mitraclips in the state. 2 ongoing structural heart trials and Evoque implantation. A dedicated shock program as an ECMO site. Our Medical Group is a physician-led group with the administrative support of a larger hospital system.

Requirements

  • MD/DO Education
  • Unrestricted license in Colorado or able to obtain
  • Board Certified in Cardiothoracic Surgery
  • DEA
  • Minimum of 5 years experience
  • Interest in building a niche like thoracic, minimally invasive mitral valve, or a large ECMO focus, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Provide top-notch care and patient experience as a Cardiothoracic Surgeon.
  • Work collaboratively with 2 other surgeons and 4 Advanced Practitioners.
  • Participate in call schedule (Q3 call only at one hospital).
  • Contribute to a busy Structural Heart Program.
  • Engage with a dedicated shock program as an ECMO site.
  • Aggressively build the CV surgery program or develop a niche in thoracic, minimally invasive mitral valve, or ECMO focus.
