Locum - Physician Assistant (PA) - Surgery - Cardiothoracic
About The Position
This is a locum tenens position for a Physician Assistant (PA) specializing in Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery. The role involves providing inpatient coverage in a hospital setting, managing adult and geriatric patients, and participating in both weekday and weekend call. Responsibilities include post-operative management, emergency surgical intervention, consultations, vein harvesting, surgical assistance, care coordination, daily rounding, and interpreting diagnostic tests. The PA will utilize the Epic EMR system for documentation. This position offers potential for supervisory and teaching duties and is located in a Level 2 Trauma facility.
Requirements
- Board Certified in Vascular Surgery
- Active Ohio Medical License (NO new applications accepted)
- Current ACLS Certification
- Current DEA Registration
- Clean professional background with no malpractice or licensing issues
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery
Responsibilities
- Post-operative management for diverse cardiothoracic and vascular surgery patients
- Emergency surgical intervention for cardiothoracic and vascular cases
- Consultation and referrals from Emergency Department, Cath Lab, and other hospital providers
- Competency in vein harvesting during cardiac procedures
- Participation in surgical assistance
- Prescription authority
- Care coordination
- Daily rounding
- Interpretation and ordering of diagnostic tests
- Retrieval of vascular tissues for bypass conduit use
- Potential for supervisory and teaching duties
