About The Position
This is an ongoing coverage need for a Cardiothoracic Surgery PA. The role involves inpatient, OR, clinic, and call coverage with an average census of 5-10 patients. The schedule is two weeks on and two weeks off, with rotating night and weekend call. The patient population is adult. The EMR system used is EPIC. Credentialing is expected to take 90-120 days. This position is offered as an independent contractor (1099) role.
Requirements
- Active Virginia licensure
- Board certification
- AHA BLS and ACLS certifications
- Minimum 1-year Cardiothoracic Surgery experience or equivalent
- Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) degree from an accredited program
- Active and unencumbered physician assistant (PA) license in Virginia
- National certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
- At least one year of experience in a clinical setting relevant to their specialty
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to diagnose and treat a variety of medical conditions
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests
- Prescribe medications and manage chronic conditions
- Provide patient education and counseling on healthy lifestyle choices
- Perform procedures as permitted by state regulations and APP specialty
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare providers to ensure coordinated care
- Document patient care accurately and thoroughly
