About The Position

This is a locum tenens position for a Cardiothoracic Surgeon in Fort Myers, FL. The role involves inpatient clinical duties and call coverage for adult cardiothoracic surgery patients. The surgeon will perform cardiac and thoracic surgical cases, manage pre-operative and post-operative patients, evaluate new inpatient consults, and provide weeknight and weekend call coverage. The position offers APP support, including surgical PAs and CTS APPs, with CVICU APP coverage available on most nights. APPs will create consult and progress notes, which the surgeon will review and co-sign. The coverage period is from July 8, 2026, to September 30, 2026.

Requirements

• Active Florida Medical License required
• Must indicate cardiac and thoracic surgery experience
• Must specify Open, VATS, and/or Robotic thoracic capabilities
• Must specify ECMO, Impella, and TEVAR experience
• Provider must be able to supply 50 cardiac cases and 50 thoracic cases

Nice To Haves

• Board Certified/Board Eligible in Cardiothoracic Surgery preferred

Responsibilities

• Perform inpatient cardiothoracic surgical procedures
• Manage pre-operative and post-operative patients
• Round daily with APP support
• Evaluate and manage new inpatient consults
• Provide weeknight and weekend call coverage
• Respond to emergent surgical cases
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and CVICU staff
• Maintain accurate documentation
