About The Position

The Physician provides direct clinical treatment services to patients, ensuring that patients receive the treatment necessary to treat their medical complaint. The Physician works constructively and collaboratively with other health professionals and focuses on attaining high standards of healthcare within their specialty. Duties may include patient care, instructing, monitoring, and advising other health care professionals, as appropriate. Saint Francis Healthcare System is seeking a Cardiothoracic Surgeon to join the region’s most respected heart surgeon at Cape Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery. Requirements

  • BC Surgery certification
  • BE/BC Thoracic Surgery certification
  • Missouri Physician license or ability to obtain a license upon credentialing
  • Active Missouri DEA and BNDD registration or ability to obtain upon credentialing
  • Medical license in the State
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and ACLS.

Responsibilities

  • Join a dynamic group of 2 CT Surgeons, 2 Vascular Surgeons, and 3 APPs (1 CT APP, 2 Vascular APPs)
  • Work schedule: M-F 8:00am – 4:30pm outpatient clinic
  • Clinic days for CT Surgery are currently Wednesdays
  • Average patients seen in clinic is 15-20 per clinic day
  • CT Surgery PA also sees her own patients in clinic
  • Call is 1:2 currently, rotate weekends and holidays (would be 1:3)
  • Average number of patients in procedures per day: 3-4
  • Average census of inpatients: 7-10 with a max range of 15
  • CT APP rounds on patients, as well
  • Two Dedicated Heart ORs with dedicated CVOR Team and with DaVinci Robots
  • Cardiac ICU, Progressive Step-Down Inpatient unit, and Outpatient Cardiac Rehab available
  • CVS service line volume increases from FY23 to FY24 was 13% and it’s projected to increase for this fiscal year.
