About The Position

DocStar Medical Partners is seeking a Cardiothoracic Surgeon for a locum opportunity in Kansas. This position involves both inpatient and clinic responsibilities, focusing on adult cardiac surgery, thoracic procedures, and vascular procedures. The role is part of an established or growing Cardiothoracic Surgery program within a Cardiovascular Service Line, supported by a dedicated team including surgeons, APPs, perfusionists, and CVICU teams. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills, a collaborative approach, and a commitment to patient safety and quality outcomes.

Requirements

Board Certified or Board Eligible in Cardiothoracic Surgery
Completion of accredited Cardiothoracic Surgery residency/fellowship
Eligibility for or active Kansas medical license
BLS and ACLS certification
DEA registration
Experience with adult cardiac surgery required
Minimum 6 months commitment, with at least 2 weeks per month including weekdays
FTE expectation: Locum 2 weeks a month requested (willing to consider more or less)
Shared CTS call coverage (details to be specified – e.g., 1:3 or 1:4 rotation)

Nice To Haves

Additional experience with thoracic or vascular procedures preferred
Ability to work in a developing or growing CTS program environment

Responsibilities

Perform CABG, AVR, MVR, thoracic, vascular, carotid, TAVR, TCAR, and endo AAA procedures.
Manage 4-6 hospital patients per day.
Conduct 6-7 clinic consults per day, with at least one clinic day per week.
Participate in weekday call 2 weeks per month.
Take one weekend call per month.
Collaborate with surgeons, APPs, anesthesia, and ICU teams.
Contribute to patient safety, quality outcomes, and HRO principles.
Assist with APP education if needed.
Communicate effectively within multidisciplinary care teams.
Participate in clinical program development, quality improvement, and long-term service line growth.
