About The Position

We are seeking a Cardiothoracic Surgeon for a Locum Tenens position in Duluth, MN. This inpatient role involves providing comprehensive cardiothoracic surgical coverage, including open and endoscopic surgeries. The surgeon will manage pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative care for patients, perform on-call duties as part of a 1:2 call rotation with a 20-minute response time, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams. Responsibilities also include documenting patient encounters in the Epic EMR and adhering to hospital protocols. The coverage period is from October 1, 2026, ongoing, with 24-hour call scheduled for 7-14 days per month.

Requirements

Board Certified or Board Eligible (BC/BE)
Licensed in MN or IMLC
ACLS certification
ATLS certification
Fellowship required
General CV/thoracic surgery
Coronary artery bypass surgery
Congenital defects (ASD, VSD, PFO, etc.)
Valvular repair & replacement
Aneurysm repair
Lung resection (including VATs)
Chest wall or pleural procedures
Esophagus and diaphragm surgeries
AICD (Automatic Internal Cardiac Defibrillator)
Left ventricular assist devices
TAVR, CABG
Vent Management
Bronchoscopy
Eval. And management of acute vol/BP issues
Insertion of C-line, A-line, PA Catheter, IABP

Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive cardiothoracic surgical coverage including open and endoscopic surgeries.
Manage pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative care for cardiothoracic patients.
Perform on-call duties as part of a 1:2 call rotation with 20-minute response time.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including nursing, anesthesia, and support staff.
Document patient encounters in Epic EMR and adhere to hospital protocols.
