About The Position

Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and Emory University Department of Surgery are seeking a Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgeon to join the Division of Pediatric Cardiac Surgery. The group of five surgeons provides patient-centered care for children in the Southeast and beyond, drawing on the resources of a large pediatric health system. Employment is through the Emory + Children's Pediatric Institute, an affiliation between Emory University and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. The Institute supports outstanding clinical care, basic science discovery and clinical research, and education of the future healthcare workforce. The role includes clinical care, participation in quality improvement and research, patient and staff education, and educating trainees. The position must be performed in person at an Emory University location; remote work is not an option. Emory reserves the right to change this status with notice to the employee.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited four-year medical school.
Graduate of an accredited postgraduate residency program in Surgery or Thoracic Surgery.
Board certified or board eligible in Thoracic Surgery.
Licensed to practice medicine in the state of Georgia.
BLS or PALS certification required.
Current DEA registration.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients and families and as a team member.
Meets eligibility requirements for credentialing as part of the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Professional Staff.
Demonstrates personal organization and time management, human relations and teamwork, personal adaptability, personal motivation, and listening skills.

Responsibilities

Provide patient care in the respective clinical area in accordance with Professional Staff Bylaws, rules and regulations, and Children’s policies and procedures.
Participate in and incorporate quality improvement and research findings into practice.
Provide or serve as a resource for patient, family, and staff education.
Educate and assist trainees with medical decision-making.
Provide authenticated reports of physician services and maintain accurate and complete records in an acceptable manner.
Complete necessary documentation and ensure timely communication to facilitate patient care and appropriate reimbursement.
Respond actively to questions and requests from patients and clinical staff.
Participate in meetings and activities as required to support clinical-area operations.
Participate in professional development activities and complete and maintain BLS, PALS, or NALS certification, as well as any additional specialty training or certifications required by the assigned area.
Perform other responsibilities as required.
