About The Position

The University of California, Irvine is seeking a Clinical Associate Cardiothoracic Surgeon within the Department of Specialty Care Associates. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive adult cardiac and thoracic surgical services, including patient evaluation, operative treatment, perioperative management, and emergency surgical consultation. Clinical assignments will be based on community hospital program needs and approved privileges.

Requirements

• M.D. or D.O. degree.
• Successful completion of fellowship.
• Board-certified or board-eligible.
• Eligible for a California medical license.
• Active and current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) certification.
• Demonstrated experience in quality improvement to improve patient outcomes.
• Experience providing and/or overseeing care.
• Leadership skills and ability to motivate, inspire, and communicate with faculty, staff, and peers.
• Must be able to provide proof of work authorization.
• Must comply with applicable conditions of employment, including background check and Live Scan, employment misconduct disclosure, vaccination policies, and drug-free environment requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive adult cardiac and thoracic surgical services.
• Evaluate patients and provide operative treatment and perioperative management.
• Provide emergency surgical consultation.
• Apply quality-improvement experience to improve patient outcomes.
• Provide and/or oversee patient care.
• Follow departmental policies, procedures, and objectives and comply with UC policies and procedures.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with state and federal privacy laws.
• Use leadership and communication skills to support a professional, team-based approach to patient care.
