About The Position

A locum tenens Cardiologist position in Richlands, Virginia, providing outpatient and inpatient cardiology care with clinical and call coverage. Coverage begins December 1, 2026, and continues ongoing; the shift schedule is to be determined. Call includes nights and weekends, with one weekend per month. The call is by beeper, with a 1:1 call ratio and a 30-minute response time. The coverage need is due to scheduling. Travel, lodging, and malpractice insurance are covered. The average daily volume is 10–12 patients, with one admission, assigned-patient rounding, and 1–2 phone consultations. The facility uses Athena Meditech and has two RNs, one PA/NP, and two office staff members. Hospital privileges are required, and temporary privileges are available. Required procedures and services include outpatient and inpatient cardiology, ICU, non-invasive cardiology, echocardiography, TEE, nuclear cardiology, STEMI, electrophysiology, cardiac ablation, permanent pacemaker placement, and implantable cardioverter defibrillator (AICD/ICD) procedures. Applicants must be licensed in Virginia and hold BLS, ACLS, ATLS, and ABLS certifications.

Responsibilities

Provide outpatient and inpatient cardiology services.
Provide clinical and call coverage, including night and weekend call.
Round on assigned patients.
Conduct phone consultations.
Perform or provide the listed required cardiology procedures and services, including ICU, non-invasive cardiology, echocardiography, TEE, nuclear cardiology, STEMI, electrophysiology, cardiac ablation, permanent pacemaker placement, and AICD/ICD procedures.
