About The Position

Provides direct patient care under the supervision of a nurse, supporting licensed professional nurses responsible for a team of patients and helping maintain a safe environment. Collects patient information and reports changes in condition to the nursing team to contribute to patient assessment and care. The role is in Two South, which cares for patients with medical and pre/post-surgical conditions; some patients are admitted under observation status. The position is 36 hours per week and includes holiday rotation and every-other-weekend work. The posting lists the shift as “Nights: 6:45am-7:15pm.”

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• No experience required.
• No supervisor experience required.

Nice To Haves

• Certified Nurse Assistant certification.
• Preferred experience as a CNA, nurse assistant, emergency medical technician, or surgical technician.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under nurse supervision and promote patient- and family-centered care in a healing environment.
• Administer or assist with activities of daily living (ADLs).
• Perform vital signs, intake and output, fall and pressure ulcer prevention measures, urinary catheter care, phlebotomy, or point-of-care testing as requested.
• Collect clinical data and patient information, and report changes in patient status to the nurse.
• Assist the nurse with patient and family education.
• Document patient care activities using correct medical terminology.
• Act as a 1:1 patient safety sitter as necessary.
• Ensure supplies and equipment are available to meet patient needs.
• Participate in activities promoting patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
• Participate in professional development.
