About The Position

The ideal candidate for a Capital Equipment Maintenance Specialist would be able to do the following: Preventative & Predictive Maintenance, Manage equipment files, manuals, maintenance procedures, parts ordering, parts storage, and inventory at lead-person level. Interface with external vendors; understand service contracts and OEM responsibilities. Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair equipment with mechanical, pneumatic, electrical, and hydraulic controls to maximize capital equipment uptime. Diagnose root cause of failures using structured problem-solving methods (e.g., 8D); return equipment to OEM condition in a timely manner. Install, repair, rebuild, and maintain machinery, small tools, and mechanical equipment used in production and related services. Partner with Manufacturing Engineering on new equipment installations, equipment moves, upgrades, and project work requiring maintenance expertise. Assist with capital project planning, providing hands-on technical input during commissioning and startup. Complete and maintain all required maintenance logs, PM records, and related files to lead-person documentation standards. Strictly adhere to all company and departmental safety policies and OSHA/MSD requirements. Ensure safe working conditions and good housekeeping standards are upheld at all times.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in industrial maintenance, Mechatronics, or a related field or equivalent combination of education and verifiable hands-on experience.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Minimum five years of hands-on maintenance experience in a metal fabrication or high-speed manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with laser cutting systems (CO₂ and/or fiber), press brakes, punch turrets, robotic welders, and similar capital equipment or demonstrated ability to learn.
  • Experience with PC-based automation platforms including PLCs, DCS, ASI bus networks, and ladder logic programming.
  • Proven lubrication principles knowledge and continuous improvement of machine PM programs.
  • Proficiency with hydraulic and pneumatic schematics, mechanical and electrical drawings, assembly drawings, and associated symbols.
  • Ability to operate and maintain hand and power tools, metal fabrication equipment, welding/cutting equipment, plumbing and electrical equipment, and precision measuring instruments and meters.
  • Advanced shop math: working in all units of measure, fractions, and decimals.
  • Basic computer proficiency: Microsoft Word, Excel; CMMS or maintenance software.
  • Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis ability is the greatest daily challenge of the role.
  • High degree of independence; able to prioritize and manage workload with minimal supervision.
  • Inquisitive mindset with strong attention to detail.
  • Exceptional time management: balancing urgent breakdowns with ongoing PM schedules.
  • Critical thinking and innovative problem solving.
  • Teamwork and adaptability to shifting demands, viewpoints, and customer needs.
  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication; empathetic and servant-oriented in interactions with internal customers.

  • Relevant trade certifications, training courses, and OEM training are a plus.
