About The Position

The Office of Development serves as the primary fundraising and stewardship arm of the Catholic Diocese of Arlington, collaborating with the bishop, diocesan staff, pastors, parishioners, and community members to enhance financial support for the Diocese and its affiliated entities, including parishes, schools, Catholic Charities, the Catholic Foundation of Arlington, and the Diocese of Arlington Scholarship Foundation. The Office provides professional fundraising activities and support to meet operational, capital, and programmatic needs. The Parish Campaign Program Director serves as the primary on-site resource for parishes participating in the diocesan capital campaign. Working closely with the pastor, parish staff, and lay leaders, the Parish Campaign Program Director provides expert guidance in communications, volunteer management, solicitation strategy, and campaign execution. This role is essential to ensuring each parish achieves its campaign potential while honoring the spiritual character of Catholic stewardship. The Parish Campaign Program Director will manage multiple parish campaigns concurrently within assigned geographic clusters throughout the Diocese and will serve as the key liaison between the Diocese, the campaign consulting firm, and each participating parish community.

Requirements

Deep understanding of and respect for Catholic Church teachings, mission, and values, with the belief that stewardship is a spiritual act.
Superior written and oral communication skills, including the ability to train and motivate volunteers and present effectively to parish communities.
Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively and joyfully with bishops, clergy, staff, volunteers, donors, and prospective donors at all levels.
Strong professional demeanor with exceptional willingness and patience to listen to pastoral leaders, volunteers, and prospective donors.
Excellent quantitative and analytical skills with creativity in problem solving.
Outstanding organizational skills and ability to manage multiple parish campaigns simultaneously.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; familiarity with donor database systems such as Raiser’s Edge or similar platforms.
Highly self-motivated and willing to proactively take on leadership roles with minimal supervision.
High discretion and integrity in handling confidential donor, prospect, and parish information.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education, preferably in communications, marketing, business, or a related field.
Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in a corporate, nonprofit, or Catholic institutional setting with demonstrated success in project management, fundraising, or community engagement.
Valid driver’s license with ability to qualify for diocesan vehicle insurance system; ability to travel throughout the Diocese of Arlington.

Nice To Haves

Master’s degree preferred
Experience supporting a capital campaign, feasibility study, or major gifts effort in a Catholic or faith-based organization.
Familiarity with Catholic stewardship principles, capital campaign phases, and diocesan organizational structures.
Ability to read, write, and speak fluently in Spanish or Vietnamese.
CFRE (Certified Fund Raising Executive) credential or progress toward certification.
Skills in social media platforms and parish communications tools.

Responsibilities

Implements diocesan campaign plan fundamentals within assigned parishes, adapting strategies to reflect local parish culture and dynamics.
Ensures pastors, parish staff, and lay leaders understand campaign objectives, structure, and expectations.
Collaborates with parish leadership to develop and articulate a compelling case for support.
Oversees the development, customization, and production of parish-specific campaign materials and communications.
Develops and manages comprehensive campaign timelines, including solicitation phases and communication strategies.
Prepares and organizes parish data, including segmentation of parish families, to support targeted campaign outreach.
Assists pastors in identifying, recruiting, and developing volunteer leadership for all phases of the campaign.
Provides training and guidance to pastors, staff, and volunteers in solicitation strategies and donor engagement.
Coordinates and supports volunteer committees, ensuring alignment with campaign goals and timelines.
Delivers training in personal visitation and other fundraising best practices.
Promotes collaboration among clergy, parish staff, and lay leaders to ensure effective campaign leadership.
Directs and monitors execution of all campaign phases in accordance with the established plan.
Plans and facilitates campaign meetings, including orientations, trainings, and progress reviews.
Develops and distributes campaign communications, including parish bulletins, newsletters, talking points, and training materials.
Coordinates assignment of parish families for solicitation across campaign phases.
Serves as primary liaison among parishes, the Office of Development, and the campaign consulting firm to ensure consistent communication and execution.
Monitors campaign performance and provides regular progress reports to parish and diocesan leadership.
Advises parish leadership on post-campaign activities, including pledge fulfillment and donor stewardship.
Assists in establishing post-campaign committees and provides guidance on follow-up procedures and donor communications.
Ensures timely and appropriate communication with donors throughout the campaign and pledge redemption period.
Performs other duties as assigned in support of the mission of the Office of Development and the Diocese of Arlington.
