About The Position

Under routine supervision, the Capacity Procurement Representative negotiates carrier rates to meet load expectations while supporting optimal margins. The role markets the J.B. Hunt Carrier360 platform to carriers to increase efficiency and freight movement visibility. The representative establishes a carrier base, ensures freight is covered in a timely manner, and delivers best-in-class service execution. The position works with carriers and internal stakeholders to negotiate rates, manage freight in transit, track shipments, and address service failures. It uses the Carrier360 platform to tender loads and maintain accurate shipment and customer records, while verifying carriers and tracking before pickup. The representative stays current on supply chain information, market trends, and customer service expectations to provide transportation solutions and timely updates. This is a full-time position in St. Petersburg, Florida. The role may require work across multiple shifts, including nights and/or weekends, if needed. It is not eligible for employment-based sponsorship.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED and up to 1 year of experience in transportation/logistics, business administration, account management, or equivalent military experience; alternatively, demonstrated applicable skills and abilities through education, certifications, military, or other experience.
Ability to work across multiple shifts, including nights and/or weekends, if needed.
Strong professional communication skills for internal and external interactions.
Experience establishing and maintaining healthy working relationships.
Experience building customer relationships through honoring commitments, open communication, and ongoing feedback and improvement.
Ability to process information accurately.
Ability to analyze situations and make productive decisions based on informed judgment.
Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Ability to manage multiple competing priorities.
Ability to adapt to a dynamic work environment and changing priorities and directives.
Experience holding people accountable and conducting difficult conversations.
Ability to perform in a stressful, high-pressure work environment.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Transportation/Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related field, and up to 1 year of experience in transportation/logistics, business administration, account management, or equivalent military experience.

Responsibilities

Negotiate with carriers for optimal purchase rates to meet revenue and profit margin goals.
Act as a liaison between internal business stakeholders and carriers.
Manage freight in transit by obtaining carrier updates, monitoring movement, and ensuring on-time pickup and delivery.
Use the Carrier360 platform to tender loads and maintain accurate shipment and customer records.
Communicate service failures proactively to internal support teams to minimize costs and operational inefficiencies.
Partner with internal teams to promote best-in-class service and ensure safety.
Leverage Carrier360 with the carrier base to increase efficiency and automation.
Verify carrier authenticity and tracking before scheduled pickup.
Stay current on supply chain information and market trends to optimize negotiation tactics.
Understand customer service expectations and provide transportation solutions and updates urgently.
