About The Position

The Capacity Procurement Representative negotiates carrier rates to meet load expectations while maintaining optimal margins. The role markets the J.B. Hunt Carrier360 platform to carriers to improve efficiency and freight movement visibility. The representative establishes a carrier base, ensures freight is covered in a timely manner, and delivers best-in-class service execution.

The position is in the Supply Chain department in Lowell, Arkansas. It is full-time and operates under routine supervision. Employees must be able to work across multiple shifts, including nights and/or weekends if needed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED and up to 1 year of experience in transportation/logistics, business administration, account management, or equivalent military experience; alternatively, demonstration of the stated skills and abilities through education, certifications, military, or other experience.
• Ability to work across multiple shifts, including nights and/or weekends if needed.
• Strong professional communication skills for internal and external interactions.
• Experience establishing and maintaining healthy working relationships.
• Experience fostering customer relationships through keeping commitments, open communication, and ongoing feedback and improvement.
• Ability to process information accurately.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Transportation/Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related field, and up to 1 year of experience in transportation/logistics, business administration, account management, or equivalent military experience.

Responsibilities

• Negotiate with carriers for optimal purchase rates that meet revenue and profit margin goals.
• Serve as a liaison between internal business stakeholders and carriers.
• Manage freight in transit by obtaining carrier updates, monitoring movement, and ensuring on-time pickup and delivery.
• Use Carrier360 to tender loads and maintain accurate shipment and customer records.
• Communicate service failures proactively to internal support teams to minimize costs and operational inefficiencies.
• Partner with internal teams to promote best-in-class service and ensure safety.
• Leverage Carrier360 with the carrier base to increase efficiency and automation.
• Verify carrier authenticity and tracking before scheduled pickup.
• Stay current on supply chain information to understand market trends and optimize negotiation tactics.
• Understand customer service expectations and provide value through transportation solutions and timely updates.
