About The Position

St Peter's Primary School, Stockton is seeking an enthusiastic Canteen Officer for a temporary position until 20 December 2027. The role is 10 hours per week, working five hours each Wednesday and Friday. The school is a Catholic school in the Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle, serving students from Kindergarten to Year 6, and is committed to providing high-quality, contemporary and inclusive education in a supportive community.

Requirements

• Demonstrated understanding of current Work, Health and Safety requirements.
• Knowledge of food preparation, proper storage and disposal.
• Knowledge of cleaning and hand hygiene.
• Practical experience operating a café or canteen.
• Ability to work well in a team and contribute to organisational and team values, goals and objectives while behaving professionally.
• Experience handling cash.
• Basic Food Handling Certificate.
• Current paid NSW Working with Children Check (WWCC) number.
• Employees are required to undergo a National Police Check and retain a valid NSW Working with Children Check where necessary, in accordance with legislation.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the day-to-day operations of the school canteen, including opening and closing it.
• Prepare and sell menu items in accordance with the canteen menu.
• Follow relevant food-handling and money-handling policies.
• Maintain a cooperative working environment and provide friendly, customer-focused service to students and staff.
• Support strong relationships within the school community, particularly with students, parents, volunteers, teachers and other school personnel.
