About The Position

Joffe Emergency Services is seeking a professional and dependable part-time Campus Security Officer to support a school campus in the St. Louis, Missouri area. This is an on-call position in which the officer picks up shifts as campus needs arise, including weekday coverage and occasional weekend shifts or longer days for events. The Campus Security Officer is a trusted member of the school community who helps foster a safe, positive, and supportive environment for students, staff, families, and visitors. The officer responds to campus emergencies, enforces safety and security policies, patrols campus facilities and grounds, controls access, assists visitors, monitors parking and traffic, reports hazards, and supports investigations. The role also includes communicating with school personnel and local law enforcement and providing informal safety awareness information to students and employees.

Requirements

Active Missouri security license.
Knowledge of and proficiency in report writing and communication.
High school diploma.
CPR/AED/First Aid certification; training will be provided if not certified.
Customer-service-driven mindset.
Ability to communicate effectively and present information to internal and external customers at all levels.
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
Comfort working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Ability to perform routine patrols across campus grounds.

Responsibilities

Act as the first responder to campus medical and criminal emergencies that could be hazardous or life-threatening.
Enforce campus policies and procedures related to safety and security.
Conduct regular inspection tours to ensure campus facilities and grounds are safe and secure.
Watch for trespassers, graffiti, vandalism, fire, water leaks, and other conditions that could cause loss or damage to property and equipment.
Unlock and lock buildings for scheduled events and secure the campus according to protocols or checklists.
Observe and report hazardous conditions to management.
Ensure interior and exterior lights are turned on or off as required and inform the supervisor of malfunctioning electrical or mechanical systems.
Ensure only authorized people are admitted to campus while on duty.
Direct and assist visitors as needed.
Monitor parking lots and direct traffic and parking as needed, including enforcing campus parking, traffic, and speeding regulations.
Enforce campus policies concerning smoking, alcohol, and drug use.
Observe campus weather conditions and report dangerous or unusual weather-related activity to management.
Assist with investigations of campus violations by reviewing camera footage, speaking with witnesses, and writing incident reports.
Serve as a liaison between the school campus and local law enforcement.
Provide informal safety awareness education or information to students and employees.
Perform other duties as assigned.
