About The Position

AECOM is seeking an experienced construction professional to monitor construction of mission-critical data center campus fiber and telecommunications infrastructure in Texas. This field-based role serves as AECOM’s on-site representative, documenting whether observed work is consistent with approved drawings, project requirements, applicable construction standards and quality requirements. The position is based on-site at AECOM’s Houston, Texas offices and involves work at assigned project locations in active construction environments. The Construction Monitor observes civil and telecommunications construction, including underground conduit systems, duct banks, manholes, handholes, vaults and points of entry. The role reviews drawings and relevant CAD, BIM and GIS information; compares field conditions to approved construction documentation; tracks observed issues; and maintains accurate, objective, location-based records. The monitor prepares field reports, communicates observations and potential concerns to project stakeholders, and supports project closeout and verification of completed infrastructure. The role provides recommendations based on observed conditions but does not have final authority to accept construction. Contractors remain responsible for construction means, methods, sequencing, safety, testing, workmanship and contractual compliance. The posting states that relocation is unavailable and that AECOM cannot provide U.S. employment authorization sponsorship now or in the future. The posting is for a current vacancy, with AECOM intending to fill the position by February 1, 2027. Newly hired employees must attend in-person Day 1 onboarding at an AECOM office location.
