About The Position

The Campus Activist Supervisor carries out the mission of Protect Life Michigan (PLM) by overseeing Campus Activists and the organization’s Campus Outreach program. The purpose of the Campus Activist Supervisor is to improve and expand PLM’s efforts to reach college students by directing campus programs and overseeing Campus Activists. The Campus Activist Supervisor will, when needed, travel statewide to assist students throughout the state. The Campus Activist Supervisor will report to the College Program Manager. This is a full-time, hybrid position. Candidates should expect to spend approximately 2-4 days per week attending on campus outreaches, trainings and meetings with students. Time spent on campus will vary throughout the year. Other work will be done remotely. Requirements

  • Commitment to the pro-life movement and the mission of Protect Life Michigan.
  • Passionate and positive view of support-raising and/or fundraising, experience preferred.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in person, and in writing, including public speaking.
  • A positive attitude, attention to detail, and ability to organize effectively.
  • Valid driver’s license and the ability to travel (day trips) frequently.
  • Candidates should expect to spend approximately 2-4 days per week attending on campus outreaches, trainings and meetings with students.
  • Flexible work schedule, and the ability to work nights/weekends as necessary.
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace and Google Applications.
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently and productively.
  • Proximity (or willingness to relocate) to Grand Valley State University and/or Western Michigan University

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in campus outreach and mobilization preferred. Protect Life will provide job shadowing and training opportunities if experience is lacking.
  • 1-3 years of management experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee Campus Activists, helping them reach their goals and overcome barriers
  • Ensure Campus Activists' goals are met, including recruiting, training, outreach hours, and campus visit goals.
  • Lead meetings to discuss goals and strategies for improvement.
  • Ensure the needs of student groups are met.
  • Provide coaching and professional development for direct reports.
  • Spread Awareness of Protect Life Michigan’s Campus Services
  • Communicate PLM services to students.
  • Serve as a liaison between PLM and other pro-life organizations.
  • Improve & Develop PLM’S Campus Outreach Program
  • Strategize for the future of the program, improving existing programs and developing new ones.
  • Help lead outreaches as needed and attend outreaches to ensure good apologetics and security practices
  • Attend meetings to evaluate the health of the club’s community and commitment to Protect Life’s mission
  • Campus Activists Responsibilities at one school:
  • Recruit: Assists student leaders in creating and growing Protect Life groups across Michigan, through setting strategy and attending recruitment events on campus.
  • Equip: Seeks to equip pro-life students to better communicate the pro-life message in a loving and persuasive way.
  • Network: Works to create an environment of collaboration and unity between students and the pro-life movement.
  • Additional Responsibilities:
  • Conduct trainings and workshops on campus
  • Write, review, and distribute resources to students and the pro-life movement
  • Assist the College Program Manager in other tasks when needed

  • Protect Life Michigan is a support-raising organization. The salary and all expenses associated with this position will be fundraised by the candidate. Protect Life Michigan will provide training and coaching in order to help the candidate reach full support and will pay the candidate while they raise support. We have an excellent track record of helping job candidates reach full support: 85% of our candidates have reached full support within 2-3 months.
  • You will complete support raising prep work over the first 1-3 weeks, then you will attend a support raising bootcamp around week 4 of your employment with PLM. Subsequently, you will spend the next 6-13 weeks support raising before beginning your job duties.
