About The Position

The summer camp supervisor will be responsible for assisting the summer camp program coordinator with developing and executing a comprehensive plan and program for the summer day camp and related activities. This role involves developing a program to mentor and guide camp counselors, managing day-to-day activities such as curriculum, resources, field trips, and finances, and communicating with counselors and parents. The supervisor will set goals, work independently and as part of a team, and create plans to address campers' difficulties with activities due to language, physical, or behavioral issues. Through this position, the supervisor will gain fundamental skills in situation assessment and problem-solving, develop creativity and innovation in implementing solutions, acquire personal management skills including organization and leadership, and become adaptable and continuously learning. The student will be client-facing, work professionally with colleagues and volunteers, and develop skills in problem assessment, evaluation, implementation, and group dynamics. They will also learn to follow project plans, seek feedback, work to quality standards, use appropriate tools, adapt to changing requirements, and monitor project success. Additionally, the role involves liaising with internal and external stakeholders, communicating effectively in various formats, managing information, using numbers, and solving problems. Specific skills include reading and understanding diverse information formats, clear written and verbal communication, active listening, sharing information digitally, applying knowledge from various disciplines, measuring and calculating, observing and recording data, and making estimates.
