Camp Lifeguard
About The Position
Camp Gundalow, in Greenland, NH, is seeking Lifeguards for the summer 2026 season! If you are looking for a fulfilling summer job where you can support others in your community, gain valuable management experience and cultivate positive culture change – this is the opportunity for YOU! Our camp, a traditional outdoor summer day camp, has a team of Lifeguards that support and oversee camp swim time throughout the summer. We serve youth at camp and ensure safety for all while having fun and acting as positive role models. We strive to build supportive and empowering teams to help all team members show up as their best and most authentic selves, so that you can learn, grow and thrive during your tenure at the Y. Lifeguards must be able to recognize and respond to hazardous situations. They must be able to supervise swimmers, minimize dangers, educate participants about water safety, enforce rules and give assistance whenever needed. Eligible candidates should possess a current Red Cross Lifeguard or YMCA Lifeguard certification (or be willing and able to obtain via one of our FREE courses) and additional First Aid related certifications.
Requirements
- Hold current Lifeguard certification
- Must be available to attend camp trainings before and throughout camp season
- Able to bring a patient, caring, responsible, flexible and positive attitude to work
Responsibilities
- Build positive nurturing relationships with campers
- Build cooperative relationships with coworkers, supervisors and parents
- Engage with campers in a way that fosters Character building
