About The Position

The Cake Decorator prepares bakery products for sale by icing, decorating, pricing, packaging, and labeling them, while maintaining product quality, freshness, and stock levels. The role provides friendly, personal guest interactions and helps build guest loyalty through a brand-aligned experience.

The decorator maintains clean, sanitary, and organized bakery work, sales, cooler, freezer, and supply areas. The position may also perform bakery clerk functions, assist with receiving and storing products, support Front Porch guest-arrival standards, and announce specials and sale information over the PA system. The role contributes to achieving budgeted sales, shrink, and profits for the cake section and performs other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

• Friendly, outgoing personality.
• Ability to work well with others.
• Ability to lift 25 pounds consistently and 50 pounds occasionally.
• Ability to read and understand information and directions.
• Effective communication, guest service, and selling skills.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Ability to bend, kneel, and stand for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Greet and interact politely and in a friendly manner with all guests.
• Prepare products for sale by icing, decorating, pricing, packaging, and labeling them.
• Maintain product levels, quality, and freshness.
• Perform bakery clerk functions when requested.
• Maintain sanitation standards in the cooler, freezer, prep area, and sales area.
• Clean the work area, couplers, and decorating bags.
• Keep the freezer organized and rotate products according to variety.
• Communicate guest requests to management and temperature breakdowns to a supervisor.
• Keep the supply area neat, clean, and tidy.
• Rotate icings properly, read icing dates, and scrape down buckets.
• Use the cake manual as reference material and the cake production sheet.
• Write on cakes, mix colors according to the color chart, and use the airbrush.
• Help achieve budgeted sales, shrink, and profits for the cake section of the bakery.
• Perform other duties assigned by management.
• Perform Front Porch duties to maintain the guest-arrival standard.
• Announce specials and sale information over the PA system.
• Assist with product receiving and storage.
