About The Position

That's WEIS! This role is responsible for keeping the bakery department well-stocked and appealing to meet customer demand. The associate will greet customers, make suggestions, answer questions about products, and resolve customer concerns. They will take customer orders, determine customer needs for cakes, and create finished decorated products in a timely fashion. This includes decorating cakes and bakery products using various techniques and creating custom designs. The associate will also make icing, adhere to company recipes, trim and cut cakes, spread icing, and tint icing to required colors. Additionally, they will assist in filling and merchandising the bakery sales area, create items for the service case, follow rotation and markdown policies, and help maintain inventory levels through proper ordering and production logging. The role may involve assisting with deliveries, baling cardboard, and general sanitation, following cleaning schedules and department guidelines to ensure work areas, equipment, and display cases are clean and meet health and OSHA requirements. Cooperation with co-workers and supervisors is essential for the smooth function of the department and store. The associate is responsible for continuous job performance improvement and the utilization of all company-provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). They may also be called upon to assist in other departments.

Requirements

High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
1-2 years’ experience in decorating.

Responsibilities

Keeps bakery department well stocked and appealing to meet customer demand.
Smiles and greets customers, makes suggestions, answers questions about various products and preparation of cakes.
Helps resolve customer concerns in a prompt and courteous manner.
Takes customer orders over the phone or in person at the store with a pleasant and positive attitude.
Determines what the customer is looking for in terms of size, flavor and appearance.
Creates the finished decorated product in timely fashion.
Decorates cakes and other bakery products using dye, specific designs or by creating custom designs.
Uses variety of creams, frostings and fillings with consistent outcome.
Makes icing for cakes and other related products.
Adheres to company approved recipes.
Trims and cuts cakes to required shape and size.
Spreads icing between layers and on cake surface.
Tints white icing to required colors.
Assists in filling and merchandising the bakery sales area while adhering to production logs.
Creates cakes, pastries, etc. for sale in service case.
Follows rotation and mark down policies to ensure quality and freshness.
Helps maintain inventory levels with proper ordering and proper production logging.
May assist with receiving, unloading, checking-in, breaking-down, and storing deliveries through operation of power jack or hand jack if properly trained.
May assist with baling cardboard or other related duties if properly trained.
Responsible for general sanitation in the department.
Follows cleaning schedules and department guidelines to ensure that work areas, equipment, counters, display cases, etc. are well maintained, clean and meet all health and OSHA requirements.
Disposes of trash properly.
Ensures smooth function of department and store by cooperating with co-workers and supervisors.
Responsible to continuously improve job performance.
Responsible for utilization of all company provided Personal Protected Equipment (PPE).
May also be called upon to assist in other departments.
