About The Position

As a member of the C&S Wholesale Grocers family of companies, SpartanNash is a food solutions company that distributes grocery and household goods and operates grocery stores, pharmacies, and fuel centers. The Cake Decorator decorates cakes and other products, assists with other bakery duties, and helps maintain and operate the bakery department efficiently and in accordance with company policy. The role also supports the shift’s contribution to the store’s financial interests and completes other assigned duties in a timely manner. The position is based at 751 Mount View, Rapid City, South Dakota 57701. The associate works in a typical retail store environment with varied temperatures and possible exposure to outside weather conditions. Travel requirements vary by assignment.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED preferred.
Ability to read, write, comprehend, and interpret documents.
Basic mathematical skills.
Detail-oriented.
Ability to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and to bend, stoop, twist, and turn frequently.

Responsibilities

Decorate cakes, cookies, and other items according to the production schedule and customer requests.
Perform baking and frying duties as assigned.
Price, date, wrap, and/or bag bakery products.
Fill, rotate, and merchandise bakery shelves, cases, and displays.
Notify the Bakery Manager when products or supplies need to be ordered.
Handle spoiled or damaged products according to established guidelines.
Assist with receiving, unloading, and stocking merchandise.
Maintain familiarity with department products, including their prices, tastes, preparation, and uses.
Use suggestive selling techniques with customers.
Maintain a clean, attractive, and well-stocked department.
Follow PPE and safety guidelines.
Follow food safety and cleaning expectations.
Follow guest experience guidelines.
Perform tasks in other departments when assigned.
Complete other responsibilities as assigned.
