About The Position

Dandelion Chocolate is seeking a seasoned manager to run their Chestnut cafe. The ideal candidate is an independent self-starter with an eye for excellence, responsible for overseeing and developing a team, engaging guests, and sharing knowledge about Dandelion's bean-to-bar chocolate. This dynamic role requires significant interaction with team members, guests, and other department heads. The position involves managing daily operations, developing and implementing projects with measurable results, and fostering a positive guest experience. The manager will also be responsible for setting quarterly milestones for cafe improvement, such as extending hours, enhancing customer service, improving inventory systems, and organizing community events, all while prioritizing team and guest satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Proven ability to manage, train, and motivate small teams, making a lasting impact on team members' professional careers.
  • Technical proficiency with Google Docs, spreadsheets, and bookkeeping tools for tracking and reporting purchases, inventory, and cash.
  • Exceptional soft skills for handling difficult guests and ensuring a positive customer experience.
  • Proven ability to connect company goals to team performance using measurable metrics, and to create documentation for new managers.
  • Agility to think quickly and handle daily challenges.
  • Two years minimum management experience in a food service or service-related establishment.

Responsibilities

  • Goal Setting: Work with leadership to understand annual goals and set a compelling vision that inspires the team to raise the bar each year.
  • Team Management: Hire, train, schedule, and foster a 5-6 person team that values excellence and proactively improves the customer experience. Conduct quarterly check-ins, annual reviews, provide feedback, and develop leadership potential within the team.
  • Daily Operation: Develop checklists, SOPs, and research tools to ensure merchandise is in stock, the workspace is clean, retail displays are appealing, and orders are timely and accurate.
  • Guest Engagement: Proactively develop ideas to improve retail displays, experiment with menu items, and create authentic visitor experiences that deepen the connection with bean-to-bar chocolate.
  • Relationships: Develop rapport with other managers, neighbors, and building management to facilitate problem-solving and project coordination.
  • Reporting: Monitor, track, and analyze sales data. Report quarterly goals and projects to the company, Director, COO, and CEO.
  • Facilities Management: Ensure the cafe space is well-maintained, including equipment, lighting, menus, and infrastructure. Collaborate with the Facilities Manager as needed.
  • Other duties as needed.
