CAE Engineer

Gestamp•US Autotech R&D, MS

About The Position

The CAE Engineer develops, executes, and interprets virtual engineering simulations supporting automotive product development programs. The role performs structural, NVH, and fatigue analyses to evaluate and optimize automotive chassis structures; experience evaluating crash simulations is an advantage. The CAE Engineer collaborates with Product Design Engineers, Manufacturing Engineers, Program Managers, and OEM customers to develop innovative, lightweight, manufacturable, and cost-effective solutions that meet performance, safety, quality, regulatory, and timing requirements. The role provides analytical leadership throughout the product development lifecycle, from concept development through production release.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • 5–7 years of relevant experience in the automotive industry.
  • Experience with CAE solvers NASTRAN, OptiStruct, nCode DesignLife/FEMFAT, and Abaqus.
  • Experience with pre/post-processing and meshing tools HyperMesh/ANSA, HyperView/META, and HyperCrash.
  • Experience with optimization tools LS-OPT, OptiStruct, and HyperStudy.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree.
  • Experience working directly with OEMs.
  • Experience evaluating crash simulations.
  • Experience with LS-DYNA for crash analysis.
  • Experience with CATIA V5 or Siemens NX CAD.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, build, validate, debug, and maintain finite element models for automotive components, assemblies, and vehicle structures, especially chassis products.
  • Perform linear and nonlinear, NVH, durability, optimization, and life-prediction simulations using industry-standard tools.
  • Evaluate product performance against OEM specifications, regulatory requirements, and internal engineering standards.
  • Conduct correlation and validation activities using physical test results where applicable.
  • Participate in design reviews, program reviews, and customer technical discussions.
  • Prepare technical reports and lead technical reviews related to simulation models, methodologies, and performance assessments.
  • Apply knowledge of steel and aluminum material grades specific to chassis products.
