About The Position

The C-Store Assistant Manager assists the C-Store Manager with store operations, including checkout, merchandising, layout, inventory, bookkeeping, and maintenance. The assistant manager acts as the manager when the Store Manager is absent.

The role requires at least five years of retail or store experience, a high school diploma or GED, and sufficient on-the-job experience to understand the processes and variables involved in managing a convenience or retail store. The position also requires computer proficiency, including experience with POS systems and the Internet.

The work is performed mostly in a climate-controlled office, with occasional physical work involving exertion of 20 to 50 pounds and significant walking or standing. Regular work schedules apply, but overtime may be required to complete projects or specialized training. No travel is required.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least five years of retail or store experience.
• Sufficient on-the-job experience to understand the processes and variables involved in managing a convenience or retail store.
• Proficiency with computers, including POS systems and the Internet.
• Ability to exert 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally.
• Ability to walk or stand for a significant degree.
• Ability to work overtime when necessary to complete projects or specialized training.

Responsibilities

• Review, assign, and follow up on daily work lists.
• Supervise the sale of retail goods and services, including money-drop procedures.
• Monitor and maintain food service areas.
• Review, update, and correct retail pricing.
• Train, manage, and supervise C-Store Clerks in the Store Manager’s absence.
• Perform opening and closing processes as needed.
• Receive, verify, and process merchandise and vendor shipments.
• Order merchandise to maintain appropriate inventory levels.
• Oversee and/or stock and display merchandise and supplies.
• Assist with store operations, including checkout, merchandising, layout, inventory, bookkeeping, and maintenance.
• Act as Store Manager in the Store Manager’s absence.
