About The Position

The C-Store Assistant Manager assists the C-Store Manager with store operations, including checkout, merchandising, layout, inventory, bookkeeping, and maintenance. The Assistant Manager acts as the manager when the Store Manager is absent. The position requires a high school diploma or GED and sufficient on-the-job experience to understand the processes and variables involved in managing a convenience or retail store. A minimum of five years of retail or store experience is required, along with proficiency in computer use, including POS systems and the Internet. The work is performed mostly in a climate-controlled office, with rare exposure to extreme heat or cold and no travel required. Schedules are regular, though overtime may be required to complete projects or specialized training. The role is classified as Medium physical work, involving occasional exertion of 20 to 50 pounds of force and significant walking or standing.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Sufficient on-the-job experience to understand the processes and variables involved in managing a convenience or retail store.
Minimum of 5 years of retail or store experience.
Proficient in computer usage, including POS systems and the Internet.
Ability to exert between 20 and 50 pounds of force occasionally.
Ability to walk or stand to a significant degree.

Responsibilities

Review, assign, and follow up on daily work lists.
Supervise the sale of retail goods and services, including money drop procedures.
Monitor and maintain food service areas.
Review, update, and correct retail pricing on all retail items.
Train, manage, and supervise C-Store Clerks in the Manager’s absence.
Perform opening and closing processes as needed.
Receive, verify, and process merchandise and vendor shipments.
Order merchandise to maintain proper product inventory levels.
Oversee and/or stock and display merchandise and supplies.
Act as Store Manager in the Store Manager’s absence.
