About The Position

As a Software Development Engineer on Schwab’s Transaction Posting System (TPS) team, you will help power a business-critical platform that supports high-volume transaction processing and brokerage operations. You will design and build scalable solutions contributing to platform modernization, cloud adoption, resiliency, and performance optimization. You will work alongside engineers, architects, product owners, and business partners, using modern engineering practices, distributed systems, and AI-assisted development tools to deliver reliable software. In a collaborative, fast-paced environment, you will address complex technical challenges, contribute to cloud-native and event-driven architectures, and support applications requiring stability, scalability, and operational excellence. You will continue developing your technical expertise while helping shape a platform that enables critical client and business experiences across Schwab. The selected candidate is expected to work on site in the specified location(s). The role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities in addition to the salary range.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
At least 3 years of software development experience using .NET and C# to design, build, test, and support enterprise applications.
Demonstrated experience developing scalable solutions using APIs, distributed systems, microservices, or event-driven architectures.
At least 1 year of experience with containerized platforms such as Kubernetes, Tanzu, PCF, or similar technologies.
At least 1 year of experience working with SQL and/or NoSQL databases.
Strong knowledge of object-oriented programming, algorithms, data structures, and software design principles.
Experience with unit tests, integration tests, and automated testing practices.
Experience with software delivery and collaboration tools such as GitHub, Jira, Rally, CI/CD pipelines, or comparable platforms.
Experience with messaging technologies such as Kafka, MQ, or similar event-driven platforms.
Ability to solve complex technical problems through analytical thinking, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.
Ability to collaborate across engineering, architecture, product, and business teams and communicate complex concepts clearly.

Nice To Haves

Experience supporting high-volume transaction processing, financial services, banking, brokerage, or other mission-critical platforms.
Experience improving application performance, resiliency, scalability, and operational stability in production environments.
Exposure to cloud migration initiatives, cloud-native application development, and modern platform engineering practices.
Familiarity with secure software development practices, vulnerability remediation, and application security principles.
Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot.
Understanding of Generative AI concepts and responsible use of AI in software engineering workflows.
Experience using automation or AI-driven approaches to optimize development processes, system operations, testing, or documentation.
Experience working in Agile Scrum environments with cross-functional teams.
Experience developing applications using Java.
