About The Position

The NWI Nashville site currently has an opening for a Buyer position. This role is responsible for negotiating and purchasing machinery, equipment, tools, raw material, packaging materials, parts, services, and/or supplies necessary for the overall operation of the organization.

Requirements

• BS/BA degree
• 3 - 5 years of purchasing experience, within a manufacturing setting a plus
• Experience using an ERP system with knowledge of various system integration points
• General knowledge of industry practices regarding PO pricing, contract and GL interaction
• Ability to develop solutions to a variety of problems of moderate scope
• Effective negotiation skills
• Detail Oriented
• Ability to work well and effectively communicate with internal and external customers

Responsibilities

• Negotiate and purchase machinery, equipment, tools, raw material, packaging materials, parts, service and/or supplies necessary for manufacturing operations.
• Compile and analyze statistical data to determine purchase feasibility of as well as to establish price objectives.
• Monitor performance of suppliers.
• Compile information and track data to stay on top of pricing trends and manufacturing processes.
• Evaluate areas of opportunity to leverage material acquisitions.
• Analyzes supplier operations to determine factors that affect prices and to determine lowest cost consistent with quality, reliability and ability to meet required schedules.
• Review proposals, negotiate price, select or recommend suppliers, analyze trends, follow up on orders placed, verify delivery, approve payment and maintain necessary records.
• May prepare requests for proposals (RFP) and bid packages.
