About The Position

The Buyer – Domestic is responsible for managing the procurement of products within assigned commodities, with a focus on strategic sourcing, cost management, inventory optimization, and supplier performance. This position plays a critical role in ensuring operational efficiency and supporting business objectives through effective collaboration with suppliers, internal teams, and logistics partners. The Buyer – Domestic is expected to exercise independent judgment, prioritize competing demands, and contribute to the continuous improvement of the purchasing function.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in purchasing, procurement, or inventory management.
  • Familiarity with forecasting, MRP systems, and end-to-end supply chain operations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Office Suite.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on data-driven decision-making.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills with the ability to influence internal and external partners.
  • Self-starter with sound judgment, strong prioritization skills, and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive process improvements and support cross-functional initiatives.
  • Customer-oriented mindset with a proactive and adaptable approach to changing business needs.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, operations, logistics, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Industry experience in distribution, manufacturing, or a related environment is a plus.
  • experience with SAP or similar ERP systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for suppliers within assigned domestic commodities, fostering strong vendor relationships.
  • Manage the full procurement cycle by issuing and maintaining purchase orders and RFQs, and evaluating supplier responsiveness and competitiveness.
  • Proactively monitor unconfirmed and past-due purchase orders; resolve delays and exceptions to ensure continuity of supply.
  • Oversee and coordinate inventory transfers between company locations in support of operational and customer needs.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies related to orders, invoices, deliveries, and product quality, partnering with stakeholders to drive resolution.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to expedite, delay, or adjust shipments based on dynamic business needs and customer requirements.
  • Align purchasing activities with demand planning, sales forecasts, and customer orders to ensure timely and accurate fulfillment.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with alternative suppliers to reduce supply chain risk and improve competitiveness.
  • Track and update product costs, supplier lead times, and commodity trends to support informed purchasing decisions.
  • Leverage market data, pricing trends, and sales insights to continuously improve sourcing strategies and supplier performance.
  • Partner with supply chain, operations, and finance teams to identify inefficiencies and lead process improvements.
  • Support team members during peak periods or absences to ensure uninterrupted procurement operations.
  • Perform other related duties as needed to support departmental and business priorities.
