About The Position

This is a 6-month, onsite role in Mentor, OH, where the Buyer will secure quality parts, services, and materials to keep production moving and costs controlled for the organization. The role involves working closely with procurement, manufacturing, quality, and supplier partners to negotiate contracts and manage supplier performance. The work directly impacts delivery, cost, and compliance in an aerospace manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or a related field (4-year degree required).
  • 1–3+ years of procurement or purchasing experience.
  • Knowledge of purchasing and negotiation methods, procurement principles, and general business operations.
  • Experience with purchasing systems or materials systems (e.g., EDI or MRP) and standard business applications.
  • Ability to analyze data, calculate discounts/percentages, and interpret financial reports.
  • Strong negotiation skills and ability to communicate with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to work with general direction, prioritize assignments, and participate in cross-functional teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Certificate in Purchasing Management (CPM) preferred.
  • Prior experience with supplier certification or working on technical/quality teams.
  • Familiarity with continuous improvement techniques and methods.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and recommend suppliers by researching availability of parts, equipment, machinery, services, and materials.
  • Conduct supplier evaluations and site visits to assess production capability, delivery, and quality.
  • Prepare requests for quotations and issue purchase orders and agreements reflecting negotiated price, schedule, terms, and conditions.
  • Evaluate bids for standard and non-standard items and negotiate price, delivery, quality, and service.
  • Monitor and report on supplier performance; escalate and facilitate resolution of supplier/manufacturing issues.
  • Negotiate and settle damage claims, returns, over-shipments, cancellations, and engineering changes.
  • Prepare reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing procurement information and trends.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities and recommend cost reductions and efficiency improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and aerospace industry regulations and applicable procurement policies.
