The Buyer - maintenance role is integral to the company's success, focusing on managing maintenance-related procurement and inventory. This position involves investigating, reviewing, and assigning work orders and preventative maintenance to personnel, coordinating maintenance project downtime with production departments, and handling the full cycle of supply purchasing from creating purchase orders and ordering supplies to receiving them. The Buyer will also maintain SAP/Ariba data, update maintenance technician records and equipment additions in SAP, establish approved supply sources, and accurately convert electronic requisitions into purchase orders. Furthermore, the role includes overseeing policy implementation related to employees, preparing bid requests and records, monitoring purchasing costs and savings, approving supplier invoices, and resolving discrepancies with accounts payable. Assistance with inventory control through cycle counting, physical inventory, and maintaining system inventory records is also a key part of the role to ensure accurate and sufficient on-hand material quantities.

Requirements

• One year certificate form college or technical school; or three years of related experience and/or training
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, CAD drawings
• Excellent problem-solving skills
• Working knowledge of Microsoft programs

Responsibilities

• Investigates, reviews, and assigns work orders and preventative maintenance to maintenance and production personnel
• Coordinates preventive maintenance and maintenance project downtime with appropriate production departments and staff
• Create supply purchase orders, order supplies, receive supplies
• Maintain SAP/Ariba data
• Updates maintenance technician records, work orders and equipment additions in SAP
• Establishes approved supply sources which meet required specifications through research
• Accurately reviews, approves, and converts electronic requisitions into purchase orders in a timely manner
• Oversees instruction, implementation, and enforcement of policies as they relate to employees
• Prepares purchase orders, bid requests, and required records on purchases, prices, and deliveries in SAP/Ariba
• Computes, tracks, and monitors total purchasing costs and cost savings
• Approves supplier invoices and works with accounts payable to resolve discrepancies
• Assist with inventory control through cycle counting, physical inventory, and maintaining system inventory records to ensure accurate and sufficient on-hand material quantities
