The Buyer plays a critical role in supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) and ongoing production by ensuring timely procurement of key commodities such as copper, steel, and other metals for our Power Distribution Systems customers. This role requires strong collaboration with Planning, Operations, and Supply Chain teams to align purchasing strategies with business needs while driving cost efficiency and supplier performance.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of purchasing experience in manufacturing required.
  • Strong proficiency with Excel, ERP systems, and planning tools.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Metals procurement experience preferred.
  • SAP (preferred as an ERP system).

Responsibilities

  • Procure raw materials and components—particularly metals—efficiently to support NPI and production schedules.
  • Collaborate with Planning and Operations to align material availability with demand forecasts and capacity plans.
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules to optimize cost and ensure supply continuity.
  • Monitor supplier performance and resolve issues related to delivery, quality, or service.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing data in ERP systems (e.g., SAP) and ensure compliance with company standards.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within purchasing processes and tools.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with strategic suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Stay informed on market trends and commodity pricing to anticipate risks and opportunities.
