The OnSite Specialist role is field-based and requires a wide array of knowledge, technical skills, and critical thinking abilities to facilitate job functions during surgical procedures, as well as preoperative and postoperative equipment management. This role provides in-room support for minimally invasive surgical (MIS) and related procedures, ensuring optimal performance of Stryker and third-party equipment. The Specialist acts as a bridge between clinical teams, Sterile Processing Department (SPD), and Stryker service lines to maintain smooth, high-quality Operating Room (OR) operations. Responsibilities include setting up equipment, confirming functionality, adjusting settings intraoperatively, providing immediate troubleshooting, managing post-procedure breakdown and staging, cleaning/disinfecting equipment, restocking consumables, performing basic maintenance, and educating OR and SPD staff on product use and troubleshooting. The role also supports video conferencing, DICOM transfers, and EMR connectivity. Additionally, the Specialist is responsible for reprocessing and managing surgical instrumentation, performing in-line function testing, wrapping and containerizing sets for sterilization, maintaining instrumentation lists, facilitating repairs, and communicating equipment readiness. The role also manages the transportation, reprocessing, and high-level disinfection of flexible endoscopes and TEE probes, ensuring validation and documentation. Furthermore, the Specialist supports daily surgical readiness by managing instrumentation, soft supplies, and case cart staging, documenting missing instruments, ensuring availability, managing put-backs, restocking, and inventory accuracy. The role also involves tracking and communicating needs for rapid turnover and trauma cases, and supporting specialized inventory processes. Finally, the Specialist serves as a dedicated liaison between the OR, SPD, and hospital leadership to coordinate service delivery, address emergent needs, and ensure Stryker program alignment with facility goals, acting as a point of contact for service issues, escalations, and process improvements, and coordinating coverage adjustments and quality reporting.
