Requirements

  • College Degree or a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a purchasing or related field
  • ERP experience, NetSuite preferred
  • Possess the ability to maintain relationships with vendors
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • Strong communication skills - both written and verbal
  • Working knowledge of MS Office
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Work well within a team environment
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer purchasing experience in construction or related industry with sourcing to subcontractors

Responsibilities

  • Purchase the highest quality products and services at the best possible cost with the correct amounts and in the needed timeframe
  • Create and execute sourcing strategies for assigned commodities and/or services, leading to an identifiable process of vendor selection and management
  • Review internal customer’s requirements for goods or services, obtain bid proposals from qualified vendors, and issue purchase orders to selected vendors
  • Research and evaluate vendors based on established criteria including but not limited to: price, quality, service, support, availability, delivery, and reliability
  • Analyze price proposals from a commercial perspective, financial reports, and other published data to determine competitive market prices
  • Monitor and follow applicable laws and regulations
  • Lead any negotiations and administer all contracts with awarded vendors
  • Serve as the company’s key commercially accountable representative to the supply base and their management
  • Monitor shipments to ensure that goods or services are delivered on-time, trace shipments and expedite where necessary
  • Coordinate a corrective action plan to address defective or unacceptable goods or services
  • Evaluate and monitor contract performance to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and determine needs for change
  • Maintain and review electronic, or manual records of items purchased, costs, delivery information, product performance, and inventories
  • Review supplier catalogs, industry periodicals, directories, trade journals, and websites to consult with user department personnel to locate necessary goods and services
  • Review product specifications, maintaining a working technical knowledge of the goods or services to be purchased
