Walden Local is seeking a Butcher Shop Associate for its South End location. The role involves traditional whole-animal butchery in a hands-on shop environment, working directly with products from delivery through customer service. The shop does not have a rail system or loading dock, so the associate participates in physically receiving products, including moving beef quarters weighing up to 250 pounds from delivery trucks onto wheeled carts and then onto butcher blocks or hanging hooks. This heavy lifting is usually concentrated on one day each week. The associate uses professional butchery tools to produce whole-animal breakdowns and custom customer cuts, provides knowledgeable customer service, helps maintain safe and clean shop operations, prepares the store for opening and closing, promotes Walden’s home-delivery meat-share program, and manages inventory planning. The position is scheduled Wednesday through Sunday, 12 p.m. to 8 p.m., for 40–45 hours per week, and pays $19 per hour. Walden Local describes itself as a mission-driven company focused on reinvigorating agricultural economies and supporting healthier communities, animals, and soil. It connects families with farmers by distributing locally raised meat to households across the Northeast.
